Troubleshooting
If your Protector in not working as expected, Try the following ideas.
Pump runs but nothing comes out of the nozzle...
- Check spray tank for fluid.
- Cycle at least 5 times with the door, if nozzle still will not spray, tap the discharge end of the nozzle while pump is running to unseat the spring loaded ball check valve in the nozzle strainer.
- Remove nozzle end cap and clean strainer screen. Always use a strainer when filling the tank to avoid clutter in the tank.
Fluid leaks inside barrel...
- Determine if the leak is from the rubber grommet between pump and tank or if the leak is in the center of the pump. Call 1-800-248-9727 for information about replacing either of these parts.
Pump runs continuously...
- Electronic control board is bad. Call for replacement information at 1-800-248-9727. The pump may need replacing also if it has run any length of time.
Pump does not come on when door is pushed open...
- Make sure Off/On Switch is in the "ON" position. On is to the right and Off is to the left.
- Hold door completely closed for 10 seconds and then hold open all the way open for 10 seconds.
- Check and see if wires are connected to the battery. The black wire to the battery terminal in front and the red wire to the back battery terminal.
- Check Pump, which is mounted near the bottom of the 6 quart tank inside the barrel in the back. The red positive wire should be on the left hand terminal (+) and the black negative wire should be on the right hand terminal (-).
- Check Magnetic Switch for proper positioning. VERY IMPORTANT!! The Protector will not work if magnet is out of alignment. Proper alignment is when magnet (located at the top of door on bracket and wire) and magnetic switch (mounted on the right side of the metal T-Bar Bracket) are parallel to each other BUT have a ¾" gap between them, when the door is closed. To check if this is the problem, after The Protector is on for 10 seconds, place something between the magnet and switch to see if The Protector will cycle. If it does then you can adjust the magnet until The Protector works with the door.
- Battery maybe discharged; Check if solar wires are connected. These wires are located through the top of the barrel, above the T-Bar bracket. OR The Protector may have set to long without sunlight and the battery may have naturally discharged. The battery maybe charged on a trickle charger only (2 amps or less) for 72 hours or set out in the direct sun for 10 days.
